Description : A yellowish-green apple with brown russet. Yellow flesh with crisp acid flavour. Good disease resistance and keeping qualities. Though of a dull appearance this is more than compensated by its excellent flavour.

Feathered or unfeathered: unfeathered.

Suitablity for cordon & espalier : yes, but cut back by on third after planting to encourage branching.

History: Originated in Gloucestershire around 1700 being raised by Dr. Ashmead.
